DESCRIPTION:Immediately following major disasters caused by storms\, wildfires\, and earthquakes\, amateur radio is often the only available local electronics communications system.  Historically\, trained Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) operators have used portable\, mobile\, and handheld two-way radios\, supported by radio repeaters\, to communicate and relay emergency messages using voice.  The primary activity of South County ARES (SCARES) is training emergency communicators to be efficient and effective in their support of public agencies during crisis situations.  In recent years\, ARES organizations have wanted to supplement their voice communications with digital communications to enable passing of text and VOIP messages\, images\, and video.  The Bay Area Mesh (BAM) program is now implementing such a capability covering the entire Bay Area.  It can be thought of as an emergency wireless Internet that uses commercial Wi-Fi devices modified to operate in bands authorized for Amateur Radio use outside of the normal Wi-Fi bands.  This presentation will describe SCARES participation in the BAM program. and will demonstrate the BAM system in operation.  It will also describe how others can participate in BAM deployment\, including encouragement to do so.

The standardization process of the next phase of 5G\, called 5G Advanced\, is picking up pace. Amidst all this\, 6G discussions are starting up.\n \n As happens during the conceptualization stage of any new generation of technology\, the focus is now on creating the “6G wish list” based on the feedback of different parts of the ecosystem.\n \n The discussion is around what should be the defining vectors of 6G\, whether it will be similar to the previous generation\, like performance and capabilities\, or will they be more societal benefits such as addressing the digital divide and universal connectivity.\n \n The panel will debate whether 6G requires a new radio interface\, what new spectrum bands such as TeraHertz (THz) will be enabled\, role of satellite connectivity\, sensing networks\, open architectures and more. DESCRIPTION:The WCA presents: \n Jul 21\, 2022 01:30 PM Pacific Time (US and Canada) \n \n \n \n \n \n Hitchhiker’s Guide to Deploying Hotspots on the Helium Network\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About this event:\n \n \n The Helium.com network has redefined the definition of a wireless “Carrier”. \nIn this case\, the Carrier happens to be a global decentralized network of over 850K+ lorawan hotspots (https://explorer.helium.com/ )\, all deployed by individuals who have set their hearts set on mining for HNT crypto-currency\, being part of a grassroots IoT network\, or perhaps a little bit of both! \n \n As with any wireless setup\, getting the best possible RF signal means understanding your radio equipment. In part 2 of our Helium series\, the WCA has a panel of industry leaders to discuss how to optimize the deployment of Helium LoRaWAN gateways. \n We’ll cover topics such as: \n ●	Antenna gain does matter – the physics and theory of antenna types.\n \n ●	A manufacturer’s insight into building a Helium Miner – what makes for a good LoraWAN radio?\n \n ●	Deploying Helium in rural areas: No power or internet – No problem! \n \n ●	Why is the Helium network ideal for IoT?\n \n ●	How does IoT contribute to my HNT earnings? \n If you already own a Helium hotspot or thinking about joining the network\, \njoin us to hear from our panel of experts to discuss this global movement!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nModerator and Panelists Bio:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nModerator – Andy Do\n \n President at Embedded Works / SensorWorks\n \n \n \n \n Andy Do is the Founder and President of Embedded Works\, a wireless technology distributor since 2004\, now turned IoT solutions integrator. SUMMARY:Building a Global Decentralized Wireless Network with LoRaWAN
DESCRIPTION:Building a Global Decentralized Wireless Network with LoRaWAN\, Helium Miners\, and Cryptocurrency \n\n\n\nWhat do you get when you utilize blockchain Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and cryptocurrency to build one of the fastest-growing wireless networks? How would you build a global IoT wireless network in a matter of years\, not decades\, and at a fraction of the cost of traditional mobile carriers who might spend billions to buy spectrum\, build cell towers\, and gain subscribers? \n\n\n\nThe answer is the Decentralized Wireless (DeWi) movement which is growing at breakneck speeds. At the center of this movement is the Helium blockchain\, which is powered by the LoRaWAN wireless protocol that has seen tremendous growth in IoT applications. The Helium DeWi model has amassed legions of crypto mining fans\, and its “hotspot miners” have been deployed worldwide. \n\n\n\nIn this WCA IoT Applications event\, we bring together a panel of industry experts to share their perspectives on why the DeWi movement has been so successful. We’ll explore the benefits of a DeWi network and the multitude of Helium IoT applications used in small business to big city projects. Sign up and to learn about the DeWi Helium movement. Our panelists will be available to answer your questions during the event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Speaker Bio:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Moderator – Andy Do\n President at Embedded Works / SensorWorks\n \n \n \n Andy Do is the Founder and President of Embedded Works\, a wireless technology distributor since 2004\, now turned IoT solutions integrator. DESCRIPTION:Event Video – IIoT Sensors Gizmos & Gadgets 2021\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nToday\, there are over 25 billion ‘things’ connected to the Internet – with that figure estimated to triple by 2025. The industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) has exploded in a way that few in business could have predicted. An Industrial IoT platform is a type of industrial IoT software that allows organizations to securely manage all the connected people\, systems\, and things within an IIoT ecosystem. \n\n\n\nManaging a few industrial IoT sensors would be quite straightforward but today a business can have hundreds of thousands of industrial IoT devices conducting numerous tasks throughout the organization. Industrial IoT devices come in all shapes and sizes. There are no common industrial IoT standards or connection methods. Managing an industrial IoT network means having the ability to monitor and control an array of heterogeneous range of industrial IoT devices. A central industrial IoT platform provides a solution to the rapid growth of industrial IoT in almost every industry sector. \n\n\n\nFollowing are a few must-have characteristics of an IIoT-enabled Industry: \n\n\n\nAccurate control over operational processesLow power consumptionExtremely secure implementationsFast and flexible: Near zero lag in response timeHighly reliable in extremely harsh conditions of pressure\, temperature and humiditySophisticated data analytics that leads to effective decision-making\n\n\n\nThe Wireless Communication Alliance invites you to listen in as a selected panel of experts explore how the development and deployment of a perfect IIoT Gadget should look like. \n\n\n\nAgenda: \n\n\n\n4:00 – 4:10: Event Introductions and Acknowledgements – Moderator Introduction4:10 – 5:10: Panel Discussion and Q&A Moderation5:10 – 5:30: Q&A Panel\, Raffle and Thank you note and closure \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Speaker Bio:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Moderator – Prakash Sangam\n Tantra Analyst\n \n \n \n Prakash Sangam is the founder and the Principal at Tantra Analyst LLC.
